Malcolm Pippin


Malcolm was born and raised in Williston, the son of Harry and Hilda Pippin. After graduating from Williston High School, he attended UND in Grand Forks and graduated with a degree in accounting and obtained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification in 1986. Thereafter, he attended UND Law School graduating in 1989 with Honors. After graduation he clerked for North Dakota Supreme Court Justice H.F. Gierke. Thereafter, he joined the Nilles Law Firm in Fargo where he practiced in a number of different areas of law until 2013. In 2013, he started the Pippin Law Firm.

Malcolm has a general practice of law having tried in excess of 100 trials and handled over 30 appeals to the North Dakota Supreme Court. He is judicially and peer reviewed by Martindale-Hubbell as preeminent (AV). Malcolm is recognized as a Super Lawyer in the Midwest, and was named as a Lawyer of Distinction®.

Malcolm is married and has three daughters. When he is not working, he enjoys travelling, spending time at the lake, watching Sioux hockey, and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoys giving back to the community of Williston that he is so very fond of with his time and resources.

Rebecca L. Winkler


Rebecca began her practice in Wyoming in 2005, where she concentrated on oil and gas law, as well as business law. She brought the experience that she gained in Wyoming's coalbed methane boom to Pippin Law Firm in the summer of 2015. She currently focuses on probates, adoptions, and assisting businesses with all of their needs, from organization to sale.

Thomas E. Kalil


Thomas Kalil was born and raised in Williston, North Dakota. He grew up working on a fourth generation family farm, and continues to be involved in farming today. Tom attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he received bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and English Literature. After college, he attended the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, where he received a Dean’s Scholarship. During law school, he studied asylum, refugee, and war crimes law in Italy and spent time as an intern at the United Nations in New York.

Tom has practiced law in Williston for the last seven years, and has represented clients in a wide variety of areas. He has represented several cities in Northwest North Dakota, and has been appointed a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of North Dakota and a Special Assistant State’s Attorney for Mountrail County. He has successfully represented clients before the North Dakota Supreme Court in cases related to title to mineral interests and probate.

Tom’s wife, Audrey, is a research scientist at the NDSU Extension center in Williston, and together they have a son and a daughter. When he’s not working, Tom enjoys hunting and target shooting, and working on his family farm.

Deanna F. Longtin

Deanna has been practicing law since 2010 primarily in family law, child custody investigation and guardian ad litem services, criminal defense, and mediation. She previously owned a law firm for the past 6 years in Cavalier, North Dakota, and joined Pippin Law Firm in May 2017. In addition, Deanna has 20 years of experience in agriculture and small business.

Kaitlin DeCrescente


Growing up in a farming family in Williston, Kaitlin understands the unique legal challenges that come with the changing dynamic of western North Dakota. She handles a wide range of legal issues, but focuses on transactional law, estate planning, probate, oil and gas, and property. 

Kaitlin was a paralegal in Williston before attending law school in Lexington, Virginia. During law school, Kaitlin worked as a judicial extern for Judge David B. Carson in the Roanoke, Va., City Circuit Court. Kaitlin was also a senior article editor for the Journal of Energy, Climate, and the Environment. Her note, which analyzes legal issues arising from western North Dakota's oil boom, won the Journal's Best Note Award and was selected for publication. Drawing off her prior experiences as a reporter, Kaitlin was also the executive editor and online editor for her law school newspaper, The Law News. While she served on the editorial board, The Law News won the ABA's National Law School Newspaper Award three years in a row.

Although she enjoyed her time in Virginia, Kaitlin was happy for the opportunity to return to her hometown. When she's not in the office, Kaitlin loves to spend time with her husband and their pets, run, travel, and entertain friends and family.

Legal Assistant

Sherri Freeman

Sherri is the firm’s probate, guardianship, conservatorship, and real estate legal assistant resident expert. With over 40 years of experience under her belt, Sherri has pretty much seen everything in these areas and provides the firm with a wealth of knowledge, experience, and client contacts. In her spare time, Sherri is a stained glass artist. Sherri and her husband, Dan, enjoy spending time with their son and grandchildren, gardening, and enjoying the lake.


Legal Assistant

Holly A. Radke

Holly was born and raised in Eastern Montana. Prior to entering the legal field, Holly fulfilled her days serving as a youth case manager and family support assistant dedicated to providing behavioral health services to children and their families. In this position, Holly maintained relationships with personnel within the legal field. This motivated Holly to switch careers and help families in a slightly different manner.

Holly decided to go back to school and, while attending Montana State University Billings, she was employed as a legal assistant. After graduating in 2010, she began her career as a Certified Paralegal. Holly was accepted to the State Bar of Montana Paralegal Section in 2012. Holly is also a member of the Montana Association of Legal Assistants-Paralegals (MALA) and the Western Dakota Association of Legal Assistants (WDALA). From 2008 through 2016, Holly was employed with a solo attorney in Eastern Montana, gaining extensive knowledge in the areas of business, farming, ranching, oil and gas, estate planning, and real estate law.

Holly joined the Pippin Law Firm in February of 2016. Holly enjoys working with all the attorneys and utilizing her extensive knowledge and background in the law to assist clients of the office. Holly's expertise in researching, drafting, client communications, and trial preparation provide excellent support to the attorneys of the firm. Holly's special interests currently are adoptions and real estate (including 1031 exchanges).

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and two Siberian Huskies. Holly serves as Vice-President/Treasurer to the Little Lambs Childcare Board. Holly also enjoys traveling, going on ATV rides, amusement parks, reading, and volunteering in many organizations within the community.

Christin Peterson

Christin grew up in Fairview, MT, and moved to Williston in 2008. She attended college at both Williston State College and Dickinson State University. She has over ten years of bookkeeping experience. In her free time, she enjoys being at the lake and spending time with her family.

Megan Ryan

Megan was born and raised in Williston, ND. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of North Dakota for Occupational Therapy. Thereafter, she attended North Dakota State College of Science and obtained an Associate's of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant. She enjoys watching hockey, traveling with her husband, and various outdoor activities.

Lynnette K. Blake

Lynnette was born in New Jersey and raised in Hinesville, Georgia. Prior to entering the legal field, Lynnette spent most of her time raising her two daughters and being a “pageant mom.” Lynnette began her legal career with a solo practitioner in Hinesville and spent five years with him, learning the ins and outs of domestic and criminal law. She decided to go back to school and study criminal justice at the same time. She graduated from Savannah Technical College with honors in 2010 with an associates’ degree in criminal justice. Also in 2010, she switched firms and began working with a slightly larger law office, focusing her attention on learning personal injury law. After almost eight years with this firm, Lynnette decided to move to Williston, North Dakota, in 2017 and joined Pippin Law Firm in January of 2018.

In her free time, Lynnette enjoys reading and cooking. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
